How To Speed Clean Your Home

Whether it’s the evening and you want to wake up to a clean house the next morning or you just got a call that someone is stopping by, we all need to know how to get our house tidy really quickly! Here are some tips for how to speed clean your home.

  1. First, ask yourself this question. How much time do you have? If someone is coming over and you only have a few minutes, just hit the areas you know they will in and close the other doors. I usually focus on my main living areas when I’m speed cleaning.
I also love to set a timer. It helps me know exactly how long I have and it’s fun to see how much I can get done in only 10 or 15 minutes!

  2. Grab a basket and pick up what doesn’t belong in those rooms. You’re saving time by not taking the things from one room to the next. Then you can later put away the things in the basket. But if it’s something that belongs in that space, put it away.

  3. Dishes - load the dishwasher or put dirty dishes in the sink if the dishwasher is full or clean. (Only unload and reload the dishwasher if you have time.) By at least taking the dishes off the counter you make the space look tidier.

  4. Wipe off all surfaces. You want to do this before the floors because you will likely wipe crumbs onto the floor. I focus on the kitchen counters and kitchen table, but if it’s been a while since you’ve dusted you might want to hit the high spots in your living areas.

  5. Vacuum. Wipe up any spots on the floor with a cloth.

  6. Wipe down the bathroom. Grab a microfiber cloth and all purpose spray and start with the mirror, move to the sink, and then the toilet. Make sure you have extra toilet paper available too. If you have someone coming over, it’s likely they will need to use the restroom.

  7. Fluff your pillows and blankets. Light a candle or turn on your favorite diffuser and enjoy a tidy home!

Note: Once we minimized our home and everything had a place to belong, instantly it was so easy to clean our home quickly. When you minimize you are giving yourself a gift of time and margin for the good things!

Have you used this method to speed clean? Let me know how it works out for you!
