Reset Your Home In 4 Weeks - Week 2 The Bedrooms

It’s week 2 of Reset Your Home in 4 Weeks! This week we are focusing on the bedrooms. You can choose to do just one bedroom or all the bedrooms in your home.

Alternatively, you can divide these days into rooms rather than tasks.

Zone 1: Declutter

We are going to declutter our bedrooms. This includes our storage spaces and especially our surfaces. Make it easy on yourself to keep your bedroom neat!

If you have kids, this is a great time to do quick purges of their items. Set a timer and see if you can clear out some items in 15 minutes or less!

Zone 2: Baseboards, Blinds, Doors, Woodwork

Vacuum and wipe all of this down. You may not have time to really deep clean your blinds, but using a good microfiber duster will go a long way in removing dust.

Dust or vacuum the baseboards and doors first and then wipe with a damp microfiber cloth.

Zone 3: Furniture, lights, ceiling fans, vents

A quick tip for fabric furniture is to use a lint roller. I do this for my fabric headboard. It takes the dust right up!

If you have extensions, vacuum the ceiling fans and vents first to make it easier on yourself.

Make sure your lights aren’t hot and lightly dust your lamps, including the light bulbs.

Zone 4: Bedding

For this day we are going to take off all our bedding and wash it. If you are doing all the bedrooms, you may want to divide this up during the week as it takes some time to fully dry comforters and other large blankets.

Zone 5: Closets

Feel free to totally tackle your closets on this day. (I have a full blog post about that HERE.) But if you want to keep it to 30 minutes, here are a few quick steps.

  1. Pull out everything that doesn’t fit (this is especially for your kids) or that you no longer wear.

  2. Arrange your clothes by categories. Choose the system that works best for you. For me I have coats/jackets, long pieces, sweaters, skirts, and tops.

  3. Clean your closet. Dust and wipe down all the surfaces.

Are you already feeling reset? At the end of this week, half of your house will be reset! Doesn’t it feel great?
