6 Things To Cut From Your Budget Today!

I’ve been in a season of looking for ways to save money. I know most of us are feeling the pinch when we check out at the grocery store! Today I’m sharing with you 6 things you can cut from your budget today.

  1. Subscriptions/Memberships - The average millennial has 17 subscriptions they pay for each month. Yikes! This statistic was eye opening. Go through your statements and check on these subscriptions and see where you can save.

    1. Media - do you pay for too many streaming services? One way to save is to rotate these.

    2. Subscription boxes - do we really need 20 new beauty products every month?

    3. Magazines (digital and paper)

    4. Gym - In our experience, there are so many hidden fees that we have decided to work out at home instead.

    5. Unused/duplicate subscriptions - Walmart+ and Shipt or Instacart. I have found that I only need one of these. Do you have any subscriptions that serve the same function as another subscription.

  2. Unneeded groceries - this is from grocery shopping without a list. When we don’t double check what we have on hand before shopping we can be sure we don’t purchase something we already have.

  3. Online purchases - unplanned or impulse. Planning purchases or waiting 24 hours before you click “buy” is a great way to be sure you really want or need this purchase.

  4. Name brand everything. I have found that store brands save a ton of money and work just as well as a name brand!

  5. Individual size things - I looked at Walmart and you can buy a large bag of Doritos for 34c/oz. However, a 10ct box of individual bags is 65c/oz. The same goes for travel size toiletries. Instead of buying travel size, I have refillable travel size containers and fill them up with my favorite products I have on hand.

  6. Things you can borrow. This is a big way to save money. Recently my husband needed a chainsaw. He borrowed one from a coworker and saved us a lot of money! When you have school dress up days, ask a friend or relative to borrow the accessories you need instead of purchasing them. I love to read, but typically get books from the library instead of buying them.

Here is a bonus - ask for a discount or move your services to save money. For example, internet and trash and trash services. I have recently saved money in both of these categories by just asking for a discount!
