Do These 3 Things Before The Christmas Season is Over!

Christmas is almost here! Here are 3 things we should all do before this season is over. Each of these things will make next years Christmas easier for us.

  1. Visit your Christmas decorations that didn’t make the cut this year. Go to wherever you keep your Christmas decor boxes and see what is still in the boxes. You have your trees trimmed and stockings hung, so whatever is hanging out in our storage areas must not be our favorite things.
If we get rid of these items now it will be so much easier to put our decorations away in a week or two. We will have less things to store and when it’s time to decorate next year it will be so much easier because all the things in our boxes will be items we want to use!

  2. This next one might seem odd coming from a minimalist, but I’m also very pro-saving money! I love to check out the end of season sales. Last year I bought some Christmas puzzles the day after Christmas for only a few dollars each. We love putting these together each year.
I also look for a Christmas book. I love adding one new Christmas book to my kids’ collection each year. I can find these for only a few dollars at the end of the season.
The last things I look for are Christmas crafts. When school is out I hear “I’m bored!” I can buy a Christmas craft kit at Hobby Lobby the day after Christmas for only $1 and it will provide hours of entertainment.
I add these items to my Christmas decoration boxes and store them until next year.

  3. This last tip is one I’m working to implement this year. I’m keeping a note in my phone for next Christmas. The things I am adding to this list are:

    • Gift ideas. Maybe I’m finished shopping but I see a great gift. I can add this to the list and start out with a good idea!

    • Songs. I am the worship leader at our church and I start planning our Christmas service in September. It’s 95 degrees out and the last thing I can remember are Christmas songs. So I add to this list the great Christmas songs I hear other churches doing and that way I can access these next year.

    • Family fun ideas. I have added the address to a great subdivision that has beautiful lights. I added another that we didn’t get to go see, but I want to remember it for next year.

    • Appetizers and party games. I can copy some great ideas from my friends and not have to do so much research before my next Christmas party.

What are some things you would like to do before the end of this season? I know if you do these things you will be adding margin for the good things to your next Christmas!
