The TGM10 - 10 Minutes to Transform Your Home

Imagine this. You’re starting to cook dinner and you open the cabinet or drawer where your spices are and think, “Ugh! I have got to go through this. I know some of these are old and need to be thrown out!” But you don’t have time. You’re in the middle of cooking dinner! Then you’re washing dishes after dinner and the dish soap is out. So you reach into the cabinet under your sink and “Ugh! This needs purging and organizing!” Then you start to put your leftovers away and you can’t find a lid to the plastic bowl you just filled with the leftover pasta. How frustrating! You know you need to sort through your Tupperware and toss what doesn’t have matching lids. But where will you find the time?

What if I told you that 10 minutes a day could transform your kitchen? Really it can transform your house!

I’m one of those people who is cursed/blessed (it’s all in how you look at it!) with the ability to notice the little things. The things that are out of order. And those can drive me nuts.

A few months ago I implemented a 10 minute rule. Most days I can easily find 10 minutes to get a small project done. I have been amazed at the things I have accomplished in 10 minutes!

The other day I wiped down all of my kitchen cabinet doors and drawer fronts in only 7 minutes!

I began to call this little challenge to myself the TGM10. I created a name because I shared it with a few friends who were expressing frustration with not having the time to get these organizing and decluttering projects done. I encouraged them to try this and they have reported back that it is a game changer!

Looking at your entire space can be so overwhelming. Let’s go back to the kitchen. Thinking of all the areas you want to minimize, declutter, clean, or organize can be quite daunting. But if you make a list and break those up into 10 minute bites, you can have a transformed kitchen in a week!

I have started a list on my phone when I see a little area that needs some work. I’ll add that to my list. And then I add a little line in my planner “TGM10.” My goal is to mark one of those off the list each day. Some days I don’t even look at the list. I’ve already spotted a space that needs help that day.

Next month we start prepping for the holidays. By using this very simple habit, we can be fully prepared to enjoy the Thanksgiving and Christmas season!

I have broken down a list of some suggestions for you and added that at the end of this blog post. But the lovely thing about this is that you can tailor it to meet your needs.

I can’t wait to hear from you on how these 10 little minutes are going to make a huge impact in your home!
