5 Simple Ways to Save Time

Time. It’s something we all need more of, but something we can’t be given. However, we can do a few simple things to save time. Here are a few of my favorite ways to save time.

  1. Grocery delivery/pickup. I was one of the first people there when our Walmart finally started offering grocery pickup. It was amazing. You just drive up and they load the groceries in your trunk! No kids are taken out of carseats. No walks through the parking lot. No impulse purchases. I was hooked!

I have also used Kroger Clicklist, Target drive up, and Shipt. Shipt is grocery delivery. These services save time and money.

  2. Keep backstock of items you frequently use. These are items such as deodorant, hair gel, toothpaste, body wash, flour, sugar, toilet paper, and paper towels. If you run out you might have to take an unexpected trip to the store. But if you have one more, when you take the last one, add it to your grocery list and then you’ll never run out.

  3. Lay your clothes out the night before. Or maybe if you have plans later in the evening you can lay them out earlier in the day. Doing this will save you so much time when it’s time to get ready. (You can add to this. Anything you can do tonight to save time tomorrow is a win!)

  4. Use automation. If there is something you do on a regular basis, it can likely be automated. I use this for bill pay, certain email responses, and ordering certain items I use often. When my daughter was in diapers I ordered them through Amazon’s Subscribe and Save program and it was so helpful! I now use this for most of my vitamin supplements.

  5. Touch items once. This is a big time saver! Don’t put something down where it doesn’t belong, just put things where they go. Instead of putting the coffee mug in the sink, put it into the dishwasher. It takes maybe seconds more than just sitting it in the sink. Instead of draping your coat on the kitchen chair, hang it on the hook. Instead of dropping your clothes on the chair or floor, put them in the laundry basket or hang them back up. You literally cut your time in half because you would be coming back and doing this task again by moving it to the right location.
